Hi, I'm Emily.

I'm a trained magazine journalist and copywriter who specialises in communications, fundraising and advocacy for the not-for-profit sector. I have 9 years' experience in media and custom publishing, and 3 years' combined experience working with INGOs and local NGOs in Timor-Leste, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam.

I specialise in strategic planning and narrative storytelling (writing, photography, videography and design) for awareness- and fund-raising campaigns. I hold a Master's degree in Communication for Social Change and a Bachelor's degree in Art and Design History, and Journalism.

My work spans a broad range of development priorities, but my passion lies with Fair Trade and labour rights, cultural asset-based development, and women's empowerment.

I am currently based in Brisbane, Australia.

How vain it is to sit down to write when you have not stood up to live.

I love travel—especially the slow, immersive kind. I've been lucky enough to travel to more than 30 countries on 5 continents, and to have lived overseas since 2015. Other things I'm passionate about include traditional textiles and heritage crafts (especially weaving); Fair Trade; ethical fashion; architecture and design; and photography. These are just some of the topics I write about on my blog, Wander-Lush.
